Weekend in: Amsterdam
Flat terrain and tiny loos
At the end of May, I made my maiden visit to Amsterdam and I didn’t expect to be so taken with the place. The trip was in aid of a Harry Styles concert, as he was only visiting seven cities and experimenting with a residency format, playing 10 shows in Amsterdam, 12 in London, 30 in New York… that sort of thing.
Amsterdam was our most affordable location, but he also had Robyn on support, so as Robyn superfans who wanted a little preview before she plays the 3Arena on May 24th, it was the most obvious choice.
All I’ve ever heard about Amsterdam is that it is so flat and would be the perfect holiday destination for me. Having experienced the hills of Lisbon and Edinburgh, the cobbles of Naples and the narrow paths of Lake Como, it was time for something flat. One word of warning, as flat as the city is, the bathrooms are usually up or down very narrow staircases, so I will have very few accessible recs, but their transport must be applauded. All accessible, all on time, all areas covered.
Prepared for 31 degree heat and armed with plenty of restaurant recommendations from my lovely pals at NATIVE, this is what we did, saw, ate and overcame.
