Well. It’s over. After three sold out shows in the Aviva Stadium, the Irish leg of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has come and gone. Having bought the tickets one year ago, gone to see the concert film in the cinema nine months ago, and spent the last week talking about Taylor on Prime Time, the Irish Times Women’s Podcast and The Journal, as well as DJing the request floor as part of the Dublin Swiftogeddon club nights for the last two years, there is a Taylor-shaped hole in my life. And I’m not the only one.
Running errands on Monday, when I myself was near running on empty, I saw bereft looking girls and women, who cleverly booked the day off work, wearing the pricey merchandise and looking bereft as they stared into the bottom of their takeout coffee asking, “is it over now?” After such a busy build up to Eras, and the fact that Taylor has released eight albums since 2020, perhaps for our sanity, and financial security, we should all take a little Swiftie hiatus, but before I do…
