I must start this post with an apology. I am sorry for not sending out a Legless newsletter last week, but I was so deep in Barbie Land that I didn’t even have a second to think. With the biggest event of the summer on the horizon, my head was clouded over with pink thoughts and pink feelings.
I began Barbie day with an 8am screening in the Light House Cinema, and then returned later that evening to DJ for the constant stream of people in full pink and cowboy attire going to the multiple Barbie screenings.
I have genuinely never had a cinema experience like it; the mania, the commitment, the looks, the joy. I remember when the first Sex and the City movie was released, friends of mine work in a cinema and their main recollection of that opening weekend was a lot of drunk women vomiting on themselves. This is like that, but instead of vomit, it’s glitter, and it’s not just women, it’s everyone. Except the boring anti-Barbie brigade. Take a day off, won’t you?
