I used to think that brunch was a total con. €14 for eggs? Would you be well? I think in and around 2014, brunch really took off in Dublin and a lot of the places were serving up food so overpriced and bland that it wasn’t enough for me to get up out of bed after a night out.
Still a little on the fence with brunch in general, I only subscribe to the idea when I know that the food is great, the prices are reasonable and the queues aren’t too long. Enter Southbank.
I have become a regular here with a pal of mine, and we seem to come here once or twice a month, with no suggestion of going anywhere else. I know what she orders (avocado and eggs with a side of feta), and I know what I’ll order (the breakfast bap, or if I am feeling indulgent, the brioche French toast with honeycomb and bacon). If we ever stray from our usuals, we are never let down.
Apart from the great food (and great company)
